v-connect in NHS Alliance "Communities of Care" series
The v-connect service features in a new 3 part series of programmes produced by the NHS Alliance in partnership with ITN Productions and introduced by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky.
The series "Communities of Care" looks at how the NHS is meeting the challenge of tightened budgets, rising costs and stretched resources. The programmes, which feature key industry interviews and news-style reports along with sponsored editorial profiles, have been produced in partnership with ITN Productions, ITN's bespoke production hub. They were launched at ITN Productions' Studio 2 in London, at an event hosted by GP, broadcaster and comic Dr. Phil Hammond with "surprise" guest the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt.
The segment dedicated to v-connect uses the example of a GP consultation carried out remotely with a care home resident to illustrate how the video service provides a point of access for care providers and patients. The piece demonstrates how care pathways are shortened, journey times reduced and outcomes improved. As v-connect's Adam Hoare explains to reporter Paul Brennan, the system, which connects over the NHS's secure network, can also use remote diagnostic devices to provide care providers with the information they need to further improve outcomes.
